Introduction    The capital city of Victoria is the only city and port in Seychelles, located on the northeast of Mahé Island. During the hot season, the average temperature is 30°C, and during the cool season, it’s 24°C. The streets are clean, the scenery is beautiful, and the city has just one traffic light, one cinema, and one post office — it is one of the smallest cities in the world. In the urban area stands a large memorial statue of three seagulls, symbolizing the pioneers who flew here over 200 years ago from Europe, Asia, and Africa to settle the wilderness. In the city center there is a silver-plated clock tower, known as the “Little Big Ben,” which was cast in 1903 as a symbol of British colonial rule. The streets are lined with many French colonial-era buildings. Though there are no skyscrapers, the unique exotic charm is truly memorable. At the national botanical garden in Victoria, you can also see Seychelles’ national treasure — the coco de mer.
