La Digue Island

La Digue Island is the fourth most inhabited island in Seychelles, located 43 kilometers from Mahé Island and less than 7 kilometers from Praslin Island. Covering an area of just 15 square kilometers, it has a population of 6,000. The name of La Digue Island comes from the name of a ship belonging to the French explorer Marc-Joseph Marion du Fresne, who arrived in Seychelles in 1768.

In the past, copra and vanilla products were the main sources of the local economy, but today tourism dominates the island, which is renowned for its stunning beaches. With its strong tropical charm and simple, friendly locals, the island gives off an otherworldly paradise vibe. As a result, it has been listed by Lonely Planet as one of the 50 places everyone should visit in their lifetime. The Anse Source d'Argent beach on the island is famous across Europe and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, as well as one of the most photographed. The rocks on the beach are uniquely beautiful.

Grand Anse Beach boasts stretches of silvery sand and crystal-clear, emerald-green waters. The Loutier Coco restaurant on the beach is a favorite dining spot among visitors. Motorized vehicles are restricted on the island; bicycles are the most commonly used mode of transport, and if you have the time, a bullock cart is the ultimate choice.
