This is the most famous island in Seychelles and a training ground for snorkeling enthusiasts. With coconut groves, dappled sunlight, and white sandy beaches, you can take a quiet stroll here or set sail across the sea. Mahé Island is the largest island in Seychelles. Located in the central-western part of the Indian Ocean at 4°40′ south latitude and 55°30′ east longitude, it lies 1,584 kilometers west of Mombasa Port in East Africa. The island is 27 kilometers long and 8 kilometers wide, covering an area of 145 square kilometers. It is a granite island with rugged terrain, where residents live on the narrow coastal plains. Above the misty mountain peaks, lush trees and dense vines spread out as far as the eye can see, creating a serene yet vibrant landscape. The economy is mainly driven by tourism, agriculture, and fishing. It produces economic crops such as coconuts, vanilla, and cinnamon, as well as food crops like corn and tubers. The island boasts breathtaking mountain scenery and enchanting beaches. Mahé Island also features world-class natural bathing spots. The beaches are wide and flat, with crystal-clear water and white sand—making it the ideal place for swimming, sunbathing, windbathing, and sandbathing.
