Praslin Island

Praslin Island, the second largest island of Seychelles, lies in the central-western Indian Ocean at 4°20′S latitude and 55°45′E longitude, approximately 48 km southwest of Victoria. The island stretches 11 km in length and 8 km in width, with a total area of 40.4 square kilometers. Its population was 4,600 in 1985. It is a granite island characterized by rugged topography, with the highest peak reaching 427 meters above sea level. The local residents are engaged in agriculture and fishing, producing goods such as copra and vanilla. The island is particularly famous for its unique coco de mer palms. The central valleys boast stunning landscapes and are rich in rare flora and fauna, making them a popular tourist destination.
