Lake Kariba

Lake Kariba is situated on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It is an artificial lake created by the construction of a dam in the Kariba Gorge on the middle section of the Zambezi River. The reservoir has a storage capacity of 160 billion cubic meters. Two hydroelectric power stations are located nearby. It is also a popular tourist destination, featuring picturesque landscapes and many recreational amenities on the islands within the lake. Tourists can fish, go boating, and relax here. Highlights: Lake Kariba is one of the largest artificial lakes in the world, stretching 282 kilometers in length and reaching a maximum width of 32 kilometers, covering a total area of 2,000 square miles. Along the lake, there are several resorts for leisure and recreation, and visitors can rent boats to cruise, fish, and explore the waters.
