Site of the Ancient City of Kelimen

The Site of the Ancient City of Kelimen is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Site of the Ancient City of Kelimen is located in Kelimen Village, Hanmulasu Sumu, Chahar Right Rear Banner, Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The city has a trapezoidal layout, with the north-south and east-west walls measuring 1,508 meters, 1,520 meters, 328 meters, and 700 meters respectively. There is a north-south dividing wall inside the city, and corner tower foundations are found at each of the four corners. The rammed earth walls, now in ruins, stand approximately 2 meters high, with a base width of about 8 meters. There is a moat surrounding the city. On the western side of the eastern part of the city, there are square courtyard building foundations. The cultural layer is about 2 meters thick. Bricks and tiles are scattered on the surface, and the site has yielded fragments of gray pottery with flared mouths, basins with folded rims and pointed lips, wide-mouthed jars, and trumpet-mouthed pots.

In May 2006, the Site of the Ancient City of Kelimen was designated as part of the sixth group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
