Attraction Introduction   The castle was built in the late 13th century and was originally made of wood. It was rebuilt as a royal palace and the seat of parliament between 1569 and 1572. It was expanded between 1598 and 1619. The palace is located in the center of the ancient fortress and is a five-sided structure. The palace has been repeatedly damaged by invaders and has been continuously expanded during restoration. In 1939, the palace was bombed by German planes and partially burned. In 1971, it was rebuilt through public fundraising. The restored palace opened to the public in 1984. Highlights   The castle was built in the late 13th century and was originally made of wood.
