Attraction Introduction Kraków is the third-largest city in Poland and a major cultural hub. However, regrettably, it is on the verge of becoming an ecological crisis zone due to the establishment of a massive steelworks, Nowa Huta, by the local government in the 1950s in an effort to create new jobs. The district of Kazimierz, now the Jewish Quarter, carries a wealth of sorrowful Jewish history and served as a filming location for Steven Spielberg’s “Schindler’s List.” Highlights    When traveling in Poland, it’s not essential to visit Warsaw, but Kraków is an absolute must. The Polish monarchy established Kraków as its capital in 1038, and during its peak from the 14th to the 16th century, it stood alongside Prague and Vienna as one of Central Europe’s three major cultural centers.
