Tatra National Park was jointly established by Slovakia and Poland in 1948, with the majority of the park located in Slovakia and a smaller portion in Poland.

Tatra National Park is surrounded by forests and often features beautiful small lakes. The lakeside scenery may not be overwhelmingly picturesque, but its unadorned, tranquil, and serene wilderness is deeply appreciated by travelers who love natural landscapes. The most beautiful sight is a large lake halfway up the mountain—its surface is broad, the water clear and still, reflecting the snow-capped peaks in the distance. Clusters of shrubs along the lakeshore might initially give off a sense of remoteness, but the chorus of frogs and crickets transforms that solitude into wild charm.

A short walk uphill along one of the slopes, followed by a slight turn around a bend, suddenly brings you to a spacious cliffside overlook. From here, you can gaze down into the valley—vast meadows with gently rolling terrain, dotted with only a few wisps of thin mist. This indescribably peaceful and simple scene is also one of the most typical characteristics of Slovak beauty—minimal adornment, yet utterly captivating. Many visitors come to Tatra National Park specifically for hiking. The park offers a wide range of hiking and biking trails, varying from easy to challenging.
