Luxembourg is the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the Grand Ducal Palace is located in the heart of this historic city, making it the most visually striking building in town. The Grand Ducal Palace was first constructed in 1572 and took two years to complete, featuring a Spanish Renaissance façade. In the 18th century, one of its sides was expanded and it was converted into the residence of the Grand Duke.

Today, the palace serves as the official residence of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, situated in the southern part of Luxembourg City. It is where the Grand Duke carries out his duties as the head of state. As the residence of the monarch, the palace frequently hosts various political events. The Grand Duke, the Grand Duchess, and their staff work here, with the ground floor used for meetings. Each Christmas Eve, the Grand Duke addresses the nation from the Yellow Room of the palace. As guests of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, foreign heads of state are warmly welcomed here. During state visits, the Ballroom of the palace is the venue for official banquets.
