George Square

Introduction George Square is a square as large as a football field, shaped like a rectangle, and can be considered an open-air sculpture museum. Statues of Queen Victoria, poet Robert Burns, steam engine inventor James Watt, Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott, and King George III can all be seen in the square. The surrounding area is filled with exquisite buildings from the Victorian era, among which the most representative is a vermilion building on the east side. The vaulted ceilings, marble, and pure white snowflake stone staircases everywhere reflect the style of this “greatest Victorian city.” Admission/Opening Hours Free admission.
