The Burrell Collection is an art gallery located in Glasgow, Scotland, showcasing the collection donated to the city of Glasgow by Sir William Burrell in 1944. The Burrell Collection is situated in Pollok Country Park in the south of Glasgow.

When donating his collection, Sir William Burrell stipulated that it must be stored and exhibited at least 16 miles away from the center of Glasgow to protect it from the air pollution of the time. Due to the difficulty in finding a suitable location, the Burrell Collection did not open at its current site until 1983. The collection houses Sir William Burrell’s lifetime acquisitions of artistic treasures, ranging from Impressionist works to ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman artifacts, as well as porcelain from various Chinese dynasties and European tapestries, furniture, and church art — all fruits of his lifelong dedication. Among the treasures are the Warwick Vase and a Roman urn once belonging to Emperor Hadrian. Undoubtedly, the Burrell Collection is a source of pride for Scotland’s cultural scene.
