Ibrox Stadium

Ibrox Stadium, originally named Ibrox Park, is located in the Ibrox district on the south bank of the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland. It serves as the home stadium of the Scottish Premiership football club Rangers F.C. In January 1939, a record-breaking 118,567 fans attended a league match between Rangers and Celtic, a figure that remains the highest attendance ever recorded at a UK league match.

Designed by the renowned stadium architect Archibald Leitch, Ibrox hosted its first match on December 30, 1899, with Rangers defeating Hearts 3-1. The main stand is situated on the south side of the stadium and has three tiers, with the top level known as the “Club Deck.” The north side features the two-tiered “Govan Stand,” while the two goal ends — the “Copland End” on the east and the “Broomloan Stand” on the west — are also both two-tiered. Additionally, there are terraces under the lower tier of the main stand on the east and west sides, and corner sections have been built on either side of the Govan Stand to connect with adjacent stands.

After the completion of the “72 Club” seating in the Govan Stand during the summer of 2006, Ibrox’s total capacity reached 51,082. On August 22, 2006, Rangers announced that the main stand would be named the “Bill Struth Main Stand” in honor of the 50th anniversary of the death of former manager Bill Struth, who served the club for 34 years.
