South Shields is a metropolitan borough in the northeast region of England, Tyne and Wear County, adjacent to North Shields.

Built 160 years ago, Arbeia Roman Fort recreates life in South Shields during the Roman era. The exquisite Souter Lighthouse is an iconic structure along the northeast coast. The towering Customs House serves as a major leisure and entertainment venue, hosting various exhibitions and music events, and is open to the public nearly year-round.

The scenic North and South Marine Parks, Temple Park Centre with its many amusement facilities, and the beach amusement park are also worth a visit. Visitors can also take boat trips on the River Tyne to fully enjoy the maritime scenery.
