Sunderland is a city in Tyne and Wear, in the northeast of England, located at the mouth of the River Wear. Over the years, Sunderland has developed into a port city, with the establishment of a commercial district, the National Glass Centre, and the renowned University of Sunderland.

The 14th-century Hylton Castle, numerous beaches, and the expansive coastal area are among Sunderland’s well-known attractions. The National Glass Centre, opened in 1998, vividly reflects the region’s outstanding history of glassmaking. The Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens house locally produced Sunderland Lustreware pottery, while the City Library Arts Centre features a large collection of contemporary artworks. The Wearside Museum is a great place to learn about the city’s port and shipping history.
