Sechseläuten Meadow
Introduction This is the most beloved meadow in Zurich, as it hosts the city’s traditional Spring Welcome Festival every year — the Sechseläuten: people from all walks of life dress in traditional costumes and parade through the city, culminating at exactly 6 PM on Sechseläuten Meadow with the burning of the “Böögg” — a snowman symbolizing winter, made of cotton wool and stuffed with firecrackers. The Sechseläuten is one of Zurich’s most important festivals, making Sechseläuten Meadow the locals’ favorite festival ground.
