Guide Opening Hours: 10:00–18:00, Monday to Saturday Introduction A small yet exquisite theater built in the Neo-Baroque style in 1891, with over 1,200 seats. Operas premiered here include Hindemith’s "Mathis der Maler" (1938) and Schoenberg’s "Moses und Aron" (1957). Like the Opéra de Lyon in France, it is one of today’s most prestigious theaters.
The busiest time is from September to the end of June the following year, during which there are also ballet performances and recitals. At the end of the peak season in late June, there is a "Juni Festwoche" (June Festival Week), featuring absolutely treasured performances that draw much attention.
