Fraumünster Church

Fraumünster Church was built in 853 by Louis the German for his daughter. It is a Reformed church and one of the 34 parishes of the Swiss Reformed Church in Zurich, as well as one of the city's most renowned cathedrals.

Due to its long history, parts of Fraumünster have been damaged and were subsequently restored in the 20th century with the addition of stained glass windows, giving it a renewed appearance. This magnificent cathedral is famous for its tall spire, whose blue top is highly distinctive and has become one of the most eye-catching features in Zurich’s skyline. In addition to the spire, the church is also celebrated in Switzerland for its five stained glass windows, designed by the French artist Marc Chagall and installed in 1970. Each window features a dominant color and is exquisitely crafted, depicting a Christian story.

In addition to the five stained glass windows designed by Marc Chagall, Fraumünster Church also features a 9-meter-high stained glass window designed by Augusto Giacometti, which was installed in 1940.
