Tumuj Nature Museum serves as a patriotic education base.

The Tumuj National Nature Reserve Museum is located 9 kilometers west of the administrative building of the Tumuj National Nature Reserve in Jalaid Banner. It covers a construction area of 500?. Built in 2003, it officially opened in June 2006. The museum has collected 147 animal specimens from 55 species, 60 plant specimens, and 70 wall-mounted bird images. The nature museum is dedicated to integrating “specimen collection, science education, scientific research, and sightseeing entertainment.” Using high-tech sound, light, and electricity methods, it simulates the living conditions of birds and animals in nature and strives to recreate the original appearance of the Tumuj grassland and wetland ecosystems. It is an important window into understanding the reserve.

The nature museum is divided into several sections: the introductory hall, the Great Bustard Hall, the Ecology Hall, the Plant Specimens and Images Exhibition Hall, the audiovisual classroom, and the Warning Hall. The introductory hall features a sand table displaying the full landscape of the reserve, where visitors can learn about its area, zone types, and distribution of bird resources. The Great Bustard Hall fully recreates the development process of the great bustard from chick to adult. The Ecology Hall showcases the reserve’s abundant animal resources, particularly highlighting the living behaviors of rare birds such as playing, chasing, and pecking for food. The Plant Specimens and Images Exhibition Hall displays the reserve’s rich and rare vegetation resources. The audiovisual classroom can accommodate over a hundred people for watching educational and promotional films. The Warning Hall presents the severe consequences caused by illegal hunting and poaching, serving as a reminder for people to cherish nature and life.

The museum is open to young students free of charge year-round, using the unique natural scenery to provide patriotic education through images, specimens, objects, models, and other forms. In November 2011, it was designated as a municipal-level patriotic education demonstration base by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
