Wageningen is a historic town in the central Dutch province of Gelderland, renowned for being home to Wageningen University. It is also the location of the world-leading Netherlands Maritime Research Institute.

Wageningen is a popular city for both work and living due to its picturesque landscapes, diverse recreational offerings, a wealth of bars and restaurants, and a rich cultural scene. The nearby Airborne Museum 'Hartenstein' displays many original weapons, uniforms, and equipment, as well as using models and slides to depict the events of the Battle of Arnhem during World War II. Wageningen’s Botanical Garden is home to thousands of plant species, making it an ideal place to discover the beauty of nature. As the surrender of Germany to the Allies at the end of World War II took place at Hotel de Wereld in Wageningen, the town holds commemorative celebrations for the victory of WWII every year. Veterans often attend, and members of the Dutch royal family participate on occasion.
