Buren

Buren is a city in the eastern part of the Netherlands, governed by the province of Gelderland. The Korne River meanders through the town, whose main economic activities include horticulture, livestock farming, agriculture, brick-making, and tourism.

Buren has been inhabited since as early as 772 and was granted city privileges in 1395. It is now a picturesque small town. The city is home to two major museums: the Museum of the Royal Military Police and the Museum of the Dutch Royal Family. The Museum of the Royal Military Police is located in a 17th-century orphanage and opened in 1936. Its permanent exhibition tells the history of the Royal Military Police from its establishment to the present day and the different roles it has played in various eras. The Museum of the Dutch Royal Family is situated in the old town hall and primarily showcases the Dutch royal family and notable figures.
