Just a few hundred meters from the Château d'Amboise on the banks of the Loire River in France, there stands a typical pink-brick castle from the Renaissance period. Famous for being the final residence of the Italian Leonardo da Vinci, it attracts visitors of all backgrounds every year — this is the last home of Leonardo da Vinci: the Château du Clos Lucé.

The Château du Clos Lucé was built by Hugues d'Amboise in the mid-15th century. In 1490, Charles VIII gifted it to his wife, Anne de Bretagne. It was later inhabited by François I and his sister. In 1516, François I invited Leonardo da Vinci to visit the Château d'Amboise and had him reside at the Clos Lucé. Whether painting or working on other projects, da Vinci was constantly surrounded by boundless enthusiasm until his final day on May 2, 1519. The Château du Clos Lucé and its seven-hectare gardens are the ideal places to explore the creative life of Leonardo da Vinci, featuring a theme park that reflects his imagination and artistic culture.

Today, the interior of the Château du Clos Lucé serves as a museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, showcasing the daily living quarters of the master and 40 of his ingenious inventions. The rooms still retain furniture and furnishings from da Vinci’s era, and short films screened on large screens offer further insights into da Vinci, his castle, and his inventions.
