Château de Troussay is located in the Cheverny region of the Loir-et-Cher department in France’s Centre-Val de Loire region. It is the smallest of the châteaux in the Loire Valley castle complex. This Renaissance-style château is also very typical of the Loire Valley and Sologne regions. Compared to many grand and towering castles, Château de Troussay is even more petite and exquisite, resembling a cozy courtyard surrounded by lush flowers and trees.

The main structure of the château stands tall in the center of the courtyard, while the surrounding buildings are low and humble—high and low in perfect harmony. The château’s lavish interior decor, exquisitely carved exterior walls and fireplaces, windows and doors adorned with intricate wood carvings, and neatly painted ceilings are all astounding. One of the ceiling interiors was even crafted by the famed architect Jean Mosnier. The current owners still reside in the château, and the Sologne Museum in the annex building showcases the former farming and domestic life of this small estate, attracting large numbers of visitors year-round.
