Château de Candé is located in the Monts region of the Indre-et-Loire department in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France, about 10 kilometers south of Tours. This charming historic castle was the site of the grand and romantic wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor — Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson — in 1937. To this day, it still draws many visitors who come to relive the romantic atmosphere of that era.

In the early 16th century, François Briconnet, the mayor of the city of Tours, built a Renaissance-style château here. In 1853, a Cuban tycoon, Santiago Drake del Castillo, acquired the property and tripled the size of the buildings, transforming them into a structure of Neo-Gothic and Renaissance styles. In 1927, millionaire Charles Bedaux moved in and had running water and a telephone installed in the château. On June 3, 1937, the Duke of Windsor chose this location for his wedding. Finally, in 1974, the Indre-et-Loire departmental government took over management of Château de Candé. After restoration and renovation, it was opened to the public. Whether it's the romantic aura of the château itself or the exquisite interiors within, it deeply captivates visitors.
