Nice Phoenix Park
Nice's Phoenix Park is located at the entrance of the city, directly opposite Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport. Covering an area of 7 hectares, the park houses approximately 2,500 species of plants. In addition, there are several aviaries displaying animals such as parrots and owls, making Phoenix Park also a botanical and zoological garden.
The overall layout of the park is simple yet distinctive, with the exhibition greenhouse serving as the focal point for the arrangement of scenic spots and service facilities. Located at the far end of the park, the greenhouse forms a visual axis with the main gate, along which major attractions such as a large lake, fountains, and a vast lawn are sequentially arranged. Against the backdrop of the lawn and floral displays, the greenhouse appears particularly magnificent. With an unobstructed view, visitors can clearly see the distant greenhouse upon entering the park.
The greenhouse features a diamond-shaped design that sparkles under sunlight. Reaching a height of 25 meters and covering an area of 7,000 square meters, it is one of the largest single-unit greenhouse structures in the world. Inside, the greenhouse is divided into seven exhibition zones, showcasing tropical rainforests, carnivorous plants, tree ferns, rare orchids and bromeliads, insects and an aquarium, as well as sections dedicated to Louisiana, iguanas, Australia, and Mediterranean plants. The greenhouse utilizes terrain modeling and artificial rockeries to create landscapes such as waterfalls, ponds, and streams, while also providing optimal microclimates for various plant species.
The main pathways in the park are circular or semi-circular, with gently undulating terrain along the central axis and a balanced, vibrant arrangement of plants. Strolling through the park, visitors are treated to the sight of Aztec-style pyramid sunken gardens, floral displays, sparse woodlands, lawns, palm trees, fountains, waterfalls, and streams—all set against the distinctive blue Mediterranean sky, creating a truly delightful and refreshing experience.
