St. Lawrence Market is one of the two major markets in Toronto and was hailed by National Geographic magazine in 2012 as one of the world’s best food markets. In operation since 1803, this market has been a cornerstone of life for Torontonians and remains bustling at all times.

St. Lawrence Market consists of two main buildings, each serving a different purpose. The North Building operates as a weekend farmers' market and antique market, while the South Building houses restaurants, the St. Lawrence Market Gallery, and specialty food shops such as delicatessens, bakeries, and butcher shops. The South Building is divided into three levels: the second floor is the market gallery, while the first and basement levels feature a specialty market offering freshly made, handcrafted foods. The North Building is open every Saturday as a farmers’ market where local producers sell their own goods, and transforms into an antique lovers’ showcase on Sundays. St. Lawrence Market attracts visitors from around the globe each year. Here, you can not only admire one of Toronto’s landmark buildings but also sample a variety of international cuisines crafted by immigrants from around the world.

With over 200 years of history, most vendors have been operating here for quite some time, offering a wide range of unique foods to try—such as creatively flavoured mustards, homemade jams, and pea and bacon sandwiches. Even in the afternoon, long queues often form outside many shops.
