CBC Museum

The CBC Museum is located at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Toronto. Established in 1994, it is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and showcasing the history and related heritage of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The CBC is Canada’s national public broadcaster and the country’s oldest broadcasting service, having launched on September 6, 1936, and operating nationwide television and radio networks.

The museum tells the remarkable story of the CBC and houses a collection of radios, television sets, costumes, film projectors, teleprompter equipment, microphones, cameras and recording gear, audio equipment, and more that were used by the broadcaster. Another highlight of the museum is its hands-on interactive exhibits—like computer screens where visitors can select and view different radio and TV channels, or even try their hand at being a news anchor with an actual microphone. Across from the CBC Museum is a small theatre that plays classic CBC television programs from over the years. Watching these outstanding shows makes you feel as though you've traveled back in time to those golden eras.
