Lefkara Village is located about 50 kilometers south of Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. It is a uniquely charming and picturesque village, renowned worldwide for its embroidery and silver handicrafts, while still preserving medieval traditions. The village welcomes numerous visitors from around the globe every day. Tourists come to Lefkara not only to admire the beautiful natural scenery but also to shop for its hand-embroidered crafts.

It is said that embroidery was introduced here in the 15th century by Venetian women who taught the skill, which has been passed down to this day. In 1481, Leonardo da Vinci visited the village and purchased an altar cloth, which he brought back to Italy and presented to Milan Cathedral — it is still preserved there. The silver handicrafts produced here are vividly crafted, and the silver jewelry is exquisitely made. Nowadays, Lefkara’s hand-embroidered goods are famous both domestically and internationally, making the village a well-known tourist destination in Cyprus. There is also a folklore museum in Lefkara, which holds folklore exhibitions during the tourist season from April to October each year, showcasing local hand-embroidered crafts and silver items. Visitors can learn about the area’s traditional culture through these exhibitions.
