Inya Lake

Inya Lake is situated approximately 10 kilometers from the center of Yangon and is the city's largest lake, beloved by locals as a top destination for recreation. It lies north of Parami Road, west of Pyay Road, east of Kaba Aye Pagoda, southwest of Inya Road, and south of University Avenue, offering both convenient access and stunning scenery.

Inya Lake is an artificial lake constructed by British colonists, originally built in 1882 and completed in 1883 to supply water to Yangon. Today, Inya Lake Park, covering 37 hectares and located near Yangon University in the southwestern part of the lake, features shaded trees, blooming flowers, and birdsong. It is a popular rendezvous spot for university students. The park has also hosted numerous renowned Burmese cultural festivals, including literature, film, and singing events. Additionally, visitors can swim, boat, or practice sailing here.
