Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda

Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda is located in Bagan, Mandalay Region, and is a Buddhist temple that was started during the reign of King Narapatisithu (1211–1235) and completed in 1227. Its architectural structure is very similar to that of Thatbyinnyu Temple, making it the second tallest temple in Myanmar. Its beautiful form can be admired from a great distance.

The pagoda has two levels, stands 180 feet tall, and measures 65 meters in length and 52 meters in width. It consists of three lower terraces and four upper terraces, with colonnades at each corner. As the largest religious site in Bagan and one of the most spectacular Buddhist temples, it unfortunately suffered severe damage during the 1975 earthquake and was subsequently rebuilt in 1976. Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda is highly revered by Buddhists, and many visitors come to see this historic and culturally rich temple, eager to witness its grandeur.
