Shwesandaw Pagoda

Shwesandaw Pagoda is one of Myanmar’s most famous stupas. As the tallest stupa in Bagan that visitors can climb, it offers the best panoramic views of the entire area, making it the ideal spot to take in the beauty of the "City of a Thousand Pagodas."

The annual Tazaungdaing Festival is held here every November to honor the Buddha’s return to Earth. During the festival, young women compete in weaving competitions to make red robes, which are then offered to monks at the end of the celebrations.

The Bagan Archaeological Zone Pass costs $10 and can be purchased upon entering Bagan.

Transportation

The most convenient way to get here is by hiring a horse cart. Arriving before sunset is recommended to enjoy the stunning sunset views.
