Ala Archa National Park

Ala Archa National Park (Ala Archa National Park) is an alpine park in the Tianshan Mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Established in 1976, it is situated approximately 40 kilometers south of the capital, Bishkek. The park covers a region of canyons near the Ala Archa River and the surrounding mountain ranges, making it an ideal spot for picnics, hiking, skiing, and mountaineering. Open year-round, the best time to visit is late summer to early autumn, especially around May 1st, known as the “Alpine Festival,” which attracts numerous visitors to camp in the canyons and climb Peak Komsomolets.

Covering an area of 200 square kilometers, the park features mountain peaks ranging in elevation from 1,500 meters at the entrance to 4,895 meters at its highest point, Semenova Tian-Shanski Peak. The park contains more than 20 glaciers of varying sizes and around 50 peaks. There are also two rivers—Adygene and Ak-Sai—formed by glacial meltwater. Adygene Canyon is a lush valley dotted with small waterfalls, hot springs, and many trout. The park is also home to a variety of wildlife, including the rare snow leopard on the high-altitude grasslands, as well as wild goats and roe deer in the snow-covered regions above 2,500 meters.
