Malacañang Palace

Malacañang Palace is situated on the northern bank of the Pasig River (BaShi river) in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, and is the official residence of the President of the Philippines. Originally constructed in 1750 as a summer retreat for a Spanish aristocrat, it was bought by Spanish colonizers in 1825 and served as the residence of eight Spanish governors-general. After the Spanish-American War, it became the home of fourteen American governors. Following Philippine independence, it was designated as the presidential palace.

The overall architectural style of Malacañang Palace is Spanish, built with massive white granite that gives it a grand and sturdy appearance. Despite centuries of weathering, it remains majestic. At the main entrance, there are two imposing Chinese-style lion statues on either side. The palace houses various functional areas including the Grand Hall, Heroes Hall, Reception Room, State Dining Room, Ceremonial Hall, Music Room, Office and Administrative Building, Presidential Study, and the Malacañang Museum. Each space is adorned either in opulent splendor or refined elegance, exuding strong artistic charm. The corridors also feature portraits of past Philippine presidents, as well as masterpieces by Filipino and Spanish painters.
