Manila Zoo

Manila Zoo is located in the capital of the Philippines, Manila. Opened in 1959, it covers an area of 5.5 acres and is home to over 100 species and 832 animals and birds. Every year, about a million visitors come to explore this fascinating animal world, especially during weekends when the number of guests is particularly high.

The zoo is divided into different sections based on animal types and habitats, including the Tiger Zone, Large Mammal Area, Crocodile Area, Reptile House, and African Savanna, allowing visitors to explore according to their interests. Upon entering the zoo, the first thing you’ll see is the striking Indian elephant located on the right — elephants are always surrounded by crowds, showing just how popular they are. Further ahead lies the reptile section where you can find pythons, lizards, and more. Zoo staff even wrap snakes around their necks for visitors to observe. On the left side of the park is a dedicated children’s area where kids can touch and get close to animals.

After touring the entire zoo, you may feel sad for the animals, as many are confined in cages without freedom. The zoo is making efforts to improve the living conditions of the animals and hopes that they will soon be free from their enclosures.
