Pyongyang

The official name of Pyongyang is the "Pyongyang Directly Governed City." Located in the northwest of the Korean Peninsula, it is the capital of North Korea and the site of Wanggeom-seong, the capital city established in 1122 BC by Dangun, the legendary founder of the Korean people. It is the oldest city on the Korean Peninsula. The city serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of North Korea and is also one of the most popular garden cities in Asia.

To the east of Pyongyang lies Mt. Ryugyong, to the southwest Mt. Chilgol, to the north Mt. Moran and Mt. Taesong, and to the south lies a plain. With its beautiful scenery, it is one of the cities with the highest proportion of green space in the world. Pyongyang is filled with lush pine and cypress trees, flower beds, and lawns, along with its naturally beautiful mountains and clear waters, making it a stunning garden city. It is a well-known tourist destination with numerous historical sites and attractions, including Pohyon Temple, Kwangbop Temple, Anhwa Temple, Anhak Palace, Taesongsan Fortress, Ryongwang Pavilion, Pipa Terrace, Choesung Pavilion, the Juche Tower, the Arch of Triumph, and the Tower of Immortality.

Pyongyang boasts many museums and exhibition halls, such as the Korean Stamp Exhibition Hall, the Pyongyang Mineral Exhibition Hall, the Pochonbo Revolutionary Site Museum, the USS Pueblo Spy Ship, the Pyongyang Film Studio, the Pyongyang Cultural Exhibition Hall, and the Hyangrok Exhibition Hall.
