Ipoh

Ipoh is located in the Kinta Valley and is the capital of Perak state in Malaysia. It is the fourth-largest city on the west coast of Malaysia, after Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Penang. Surrounded by rocky hills, the city is known as the "Hill City" and is also a major tin-producing area in Malaysia, earning it the nickname "Tin City."

Ipoh is divided into two parts: the Old Town and the New Town. The Old Town is situated on the western bank of the Kinta River and mostly consists of pre-World War II shops. Architectural heritage sites and several government buildings are located in the Old Town, while the New Town includes modern buildings, shopping malls, and residential areas. Located in the city center of Ipoh is Coronation Park, known for its unique beauty and comprehensive recreational facilities. It comprises entertainment venues, a serene artificial lake, and a children’s playground. The city also has several notable historical buildings from the British colonial period, including the railway station, the City Hall, and the courthouse, which represent the history and culture of that era. Among the city’s well-known religious landmarks is the Sam Poh Tong Cave Temple, one of the most photogenic sites. This fully Buddhist temple primarily enshrines Sakyamuni Buddha. Visitors can enjoy the sound of temple bells and chanting, as well as admire the natural stalactites and stalagmites, making it a truly distinctive attraction.

Due to its beautiful scenery, Ipoh has been favored by many filmmakers as a filming location and has appeared on screen multiple times in movies such as "Invisible Target," "The King and I," "After This Our Exile," "Lust, Caution," and "Kinta 1881."
