Wat Chiang Man
Introduction Wat Chiang Man, also translated as Chang Wan Temple, is located on Ratchaphakhinai Road in the old city area, north of Chiang Mai city center. Built in 1300, it is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai and was once the residence of King Mengrai, the founder of the city.
The temple is famous for its statue of the Buddha and a crystal statue. The Buddha statue is inlaid with precious gems. There is also an elephant-decorated chedi and several ancient Buddhist caves from India and Sri Lanka. This temple is one of the few examples of northern Thai architectural style.
