Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden is located at the foot of a mountain in Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Province. Established in 1992, it is Thailand’s oldest and most important botanical garden, as well as a center for scientific research. It is dedicated to the collection, conservation, study, and cultivation of rare and endangered Thai flora.

The botanical garden mainly concentrates on the cultivation and research of plants native to Northern Thailand, while also featuring valuable plants from abroad. It has a complete research and educational system, making it Thailand’s first botanical garden with international standards. The garden is divided into sections such as tree plants, climbing plants, medicinal plants, tropical rainforest plants, desert plants, orchids and ferns, and aquatic plants. Among these, the Tropical Rainforest Plant Garden covers 1,000 square meters and cultivates palms, banana trees, and others native to Thailand and Southeast Asia; the Orchid and Fern Garden houses over 1,200 species, including more than 80 types of local orchids; the Aquatic Plant section contains over 100 varieties, such as water lilies, aquatic ferns, and water hyacinths.

Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden is highly popular among students, with schools frequently organizing field trips here. It also attracts many botanists for visits and research. The opening hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
