Daegu Bangja Brassware Museum

The Daegu Bangja Brassware Museum is situated at 399 Dogok-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu Metropolitan City, South Korea. It is the country’s first museum dedicated to Bangja brassware and was designated as the 77th Intangible Cultural Asset by the government in 1983. The museum spans a total area of about 17,880 square meters, with a building area of 2,369 square meters, and houses a collection of 1,480 brassware items across 275 types, including musical instruments, tableware, kitchen utensils, stationery, general household items, ancestral ritual vessels, religious instruments, and manufacturing tools.

The Bangja Brassware Museum has one basement level and two above-ground floors, featuring three exhibition rooms, a resource research room, cultural lounge, video education room, outdoor performance space, and a special exhibition hall. In the permanent display area known as the Brassware Culture Room, visitors can explore the history of Korea and the development of brassware. The Donation Room showcases masterpieces of brassware donated by Master Lee Bong-ju, an Important Intangible Cultural Asset holder. The museum’s reproduction room authentically recreates scenes of a brassware workshop and open-air market, offering visitors a comprehensive understanding of the history of Korean Bangja brassware.
