Museum of Natural Dyeing

The Museum of Natural Dyeing is located at 467 Jungdaedong, Dong-gu, Daegu Metropolitan City, South Korea, and is the country’s first museum themed around natural dyeing using natural materials. Spanning approximately 2,543 square meters, the museum displays a wide range of natural dyeing relics, tools, folk materials, and various works of art created through the application of natural dyeing techniques, offering visitors a comprehensive understanding of the history and methods of dyeing.

The Museum of Natural Dyeing has two floors of exhibition space. The first floor includes areas such as the World Craft Art Room, Gallery, Aroma & Edible Color Research Lab, and the Korea World Natural Dyeing Working Group. The second floor houses the Natural Dyeing Relics Room, Folk Textile Tools Room, World Pattern Design Research Institute, Literature Information Room, and Computer Color Measurement Center. The 1st-floor Ahyeon Gallery, functioning as a special exhibition hall, regularly hosts exhibitions on relic restoration and demonstrations of the natural dyeing process. Meanwhile, the 2nd-floor relics exhibition room showcases a variety of high-quality fiber crafts left by ancestors, including wrapping cloths, pillows, ornaments, and bedding made using techniques such as dyeing, embroidery, sewing, knotting, and needlework—truly worth exploring in detail.
