Jeonju Hanji Museum

The Jeonju Hanji Museum is located at 2 Baekbok-dong, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si, North Jeolla Province, South Korea, and can be regarded as a pioneer in the country’s paper industry. It operates the Jeonju Paper Company, which produces newsprint and publication paper. In order to promote hanji (traditional Korean paper) culture among the general public, the museum changed its name from “Paper Museum” to “Jeonju Hanji Museum” in 2007.

The Jeonju Hanji Museum houses a collection of hanji crafts, tools used in hanji making, ancient documents, and other artifacts related to hanji. It also hosts a variety of hanji-themed events and festivals throughout the year to educate the public about hanji culture. Visitors can not only learn about traditional Korean hanji and its modern applications but also experience the joy of making their own hanji by hand—with guidance from skilled paper artisans—for free.
