Xima Village Han Tombs (Second Batch of Provincial-Level Protected Sites)

Location: Xima Village, 10 km east of Guangling County

The Han tombs are distributed across relatively flat farmland to the north of the village, stretching approximately 2 km from east to west and about 0.5 km from north to south. There are a total of eleven Han tombs. Nine earthen mounds remain, circular in shape, with heights ranging from 4 to 7 meters and circumferences between 130 and 400 meters. They are generally well-preserved; the earthen mounds of the other two tombs have been destroyed. In 1992, one of the tombs was excavated. It was a multi-chambered brick tomb from the Han Dynasty with a domed ceiling. The tomb chamber measured 6.2 meters in total length, 1.53 meters in width, and was located 1.8 meters below ground level. Artifacts unearthed included pottery items such as jars, spoons, wine cups, pots, stoves, wells, tables, and granaries, as well as a bronze mirror, an iron belt hook, two “Da Quan Wu Shi” coins, and forty-four “Wu Zhu” coins.
