Okinawa Ocean Expo Memorial Park

Introduction

The Okinawa Ocean Expo Memorial Park is located in Kunigami District, about 90 kilometers north of Naha City. It was built to commemorate the 1975 Okinawa Ocean Expo. Covering a total area of 77 hectares, the park houses an aquarium, dolphin theater, white-sand beach, ocean culture museum, Tropical Dream Center, tropical botanical garden, and Okinawan Folk Village, among others. It is home to nearly 200 species of tropical fish and over 70 rare species such as chicken grunt and yellowtail. Other highlights include gold and silver arowana and giant spider crabs, which swim in schools through the deep blue waters, guided by light and sound—a truly spectacular sight. The dolphin shows are also highly impressive, featuring leaps through hoops and vertical jumps out of the water, all performed to musical accompaniment with remarkable grace and strength.

Additionally, the park cultivates rare and precious orchid varieties from around the world.
