Ginowan City

Ginowan City is located in the central part of Okinawa Island, approximately 10 kilometers northeast of Naha City, facing the west coast. The city center is home to the U.S. Marine Corps Futenma Air Station. The west coast area, centered around the “Okinawa Convention Center,” has become a hub for tourism and commerce.

The Okinawa Convention Center is located in Ginowan City and has hosted multiple international conferences. It is also the site of the Ginowan City Museum and the Sakima Art Museum. The Futenma Shrine, officially named “Futenma Jingūji,” belongs to the Shingon sect of Buddhism and is the only temple in Ginowan City. Futenma Hachimangū is the only shrine in the city and one of the Ryukyu Eight Shrines. In addition, don’t miss the stone lion group in Kyan, Mori no Kawa, the Oroku Tomb, and the Equator Bullfighting Arena.
