The Guangling Paper-cutting Art Museum is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The China Guangling Paper-cutting Art Museum, established in August 2007, is situated in the eastern part of Guangling County, Datong City, Shanxi Province — an area honored as a “National Green Agriculture Demonstration County,” “National Food Safety Demonstration County,” and “China’s Green Famous County,” and known for its ecological, leisure, and tourism features as part of the “Northern Shanxi Green Economic Zone,” “Beijing-Western Tourism and Leisure Destination,” and “Frontier Folk Culture Garden.” It is located right beside Provincial Highway 201, with the Tongguang Expressway exit on its right side, offering very convenient transportation.

The China Guangling Paper-cutting Art Museum is the earliest-built and largest-themed paper-cutting museum in China. It comprises six entities, including the “Guangling Paper-cutting Culture and Art Research Center,” “Guangling County Duotang Paper-cutting Cultural Industry Park Co., Ltd.,” “Guangling County Zhangshi Paper-cutting Culture and Art Development Co., Ltd.,” “Datong City Guangling Paper-cutting Vocational Training School,” “Guangling County Zhangshi Paper-cutting Culture and Art Center,” and “Guangling County Jiajia Paper-cutting Cultural Supplies Center.” In 2008, it was designated as a “National Cultural Industry Demonstration Base” by the Ministry of Culture.

The museum covers an area of 60 mu, with a construction area of 9,600 square meters, including 3,600 square meters of building space. It is a gray-tiled, antique-style structure modeled after traditional Chinese architecture, featuring three main floors and two two-story wings that resemble a phoenix spreading its wings. The museum houses thirteen major exhibition halls and one underground collection hall. It currently holds a collection of over 16,000 pieces, among which more than 1,640 paper-cutting artworks of various styles and schools from around the world are on display. The exhibits are dazzling, colorful, and breathtaking. The museum remains open year-round without closing on holidays and offers free admission.

To the east of the museum’s main building lies a cultural street offering Guangling green foods, traditional snacks, and classic local cuisine. On the west side is a folk accommodation and intangible cultural heritage interactive street where visitors can experience Guangling’s traditions. The “Performance Hall” provides interactive experiences for visitors to explore over 30 production procedures of Guangling paper-cutting design, manufacturing, and packaging, along with cultural performances. It offers comprehensive services covering “dining, accommodation, transportation, entertainment, shopping, and sightseeing.” At the end of 2013, it was officially certified as a national AAA-level tourist attraction by the China National Tourism Administration, making it the only distinctive tourist attraction in Shanxi Province.
