Kasai Rinkai Park in Tokyo is an artificial seaside park themed around the harmony of “plants, water, and people.” Visitors can stroll through the park while enjoying various activities, or take a park train that resembles a small locomotive—about 25 minutes is all it takes to tour the key sights, making it a quick and convenient option.

Kasai Rinkai Park is built on reclaimed land stretching 2 kilometers from east to west between the Arakawa River and the Old Edo River. Along the coast, there are two crescent-shaped artificial beaches. The West Beach is connected to Kasai Rinkai Park via a bridge, offering views of Tokyo Disney Resort and other sights in Tokyo Bay. Here, visitors can play in the sand or enjoy searching for small marine life such as shellfish. The East Beach serves as a bird sanctuary and is off-limits to visitors, but the shallow waters are home to gobies and many species of seabirds.

Boasting the title of Japan’s tallest Ferris wheel, the Kasai Rinkai Park Ferris Wheel was completed in March 2001. It takes about 17 minutes to complete one full rotation, and its height of 117 meters is equivalent to a 33-story building. From the top, you can enjoy panoramic views of Tokyo Bay, Chiba, the Edogawa River, Tokyo Disney Resort, and even Mount Fuji. Even if you don’t ride the Ferris wheel, watching the changing colors of the wheel over time and its dreamlike neon lights is a wonderful experience in itself.
