Tokyo Takarazuka Theatre

The Tokyo Takarazuka Theatre is located in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, and is a stage theater operated directly by the Takarazuka Revue. The theatre officially opened in 1934, but was demolished in 1997 due to reconstruction. The current Tokyo Takarazuka Theatre was reopened on January 1, 2001.

The Takarazuka Revue is a large-scale performing arts troupe in Japan whose members are all unmarried women. Male roles are also played by women through "cross-dressing," and marriage means having to leave the troupe. The revue currently has five troupes: Flower, Moon, Snow, Star, and Cosmos, as well as a Special Course composed of highly skilled senior members. Members of the Special Course do not belong to any specific troupe but instead support performances across all troupes through “special appearances.” The Tokyo Takarazuka Theatre is the exclusive venue for the Takarazuka Revue. Its entrance is covered with a red carpet, and bright lighting creates an elegant spatial atmosphere. The theatre has a total seating capacity of over 2,000, and every seat offers a clear view of the stage. Even from the farthest seats, audiences can see the performers' vibrant costumes, detailed makeup, and magnificent stage productions.
