Tokyo International Forum

Tokyo International Forum is a large public comprehensive cultural facility located in Chiyoda City, Tokyo, and serves as one of the venues for international conferences in Tokyo. It is managed and operated by Tokyo International Forum Co., Ltd.

During the initial design phase of the Tokyo International Forum Center building, Japan held an international open competition based on standards from the International Union of Architects. The competition was ultimately won by the renowned American architect Rafael Viñoly. The entire building was completed in 1997 at a total cost exceeding 164.7 billion yen. It is an 11-story above-ground and 3-story underground structure, housing seven halls, exhibition spaces, 34 meeting rooms, shops, restaurants, the Aida Mitsuo Art Museum, and a statue of Ota Dokan. It hosts various events including international conferences, concerts, theatrical performances, corporate promotional activities, and exhibitions.

In addition to its extensive use as a venue, the Tokyo International Forum Center building is also a well-known sightseeing spot in Tokyo. Designed by Rafael Viñoly with the theme of a ship, the building’s grand lobby is made of glass, and its impressive exterior has amazed countless architects and drawn tourists from around the world who come to take photos here.
