Ha’apai Islands
The Ha’apai Islands consist of a series of islands, islets, reefs, and shoals located in the central part of the Kingdom of Tonga. They are primarily made up of 36 islands, including Foa, Lifuka, Tofua, and Nomuka, among which seventeen have permanent residents. The archipelago covers a land area of 118 square kilometers and is rich in coconuts and bananas. Lifuka Island’s western coast town of Pangai serves as the administrative center and main port of the islands. The Ha’apai Islands attract visitors with their pristine natural scenery. With government support, the tourism industry here has seen significant development in recent years. While preserving the beautiful natural environment, efforts are being made to provide tourists with more comfortable living facilities and improved recreational amenities.
