Cape Kidnappers Golf Course is located near Te Awanga at the tip of Cape Kidnappers in the Hawke’s Bay region. Designed in 2004 by lead architect Tom Doak, it was built atop steep cliffs along the Pacific Ocean and is the most renowned golf course not only in Hawke’s Bay but also across New Zealand.

In 2007, Cape Kidnappers Golf Course was ranked the tenth best golf course outside the United States by Golf Digest, and in 2009 it secured fourth place among the world’s top 50 golf courses by the prestigious Golf Magazine. The course has 18 holes that make full use of the stunning natural landscape, with the 6th hole considered one of the best in the world. This visually spectacular course is known as one of the most challenging places to play golf globally, as the holes wind through naturally formed gullies down toward the sea, with bunkers and undulating greens strategically positioned to make scoring extremely difficult.
